Educating and awareness post .. 🚨Trigger warning🚨..vids are tough to watch I hate dental appts, i have a crippling fear of goinf myself(ask anyone who knows me) that has resulted in teeth issues so as i parent i promised myself i would support my kids every step of the way for their appointments Let me start off by saying.... I'm thankful to go where we go for the kids.. they ensure we get a private room, for the boys they offered a desentizing appts for as long as needed and let the boys especially explore. As the boys got bigger i was unable to hold them so we moved to a papoose board ( ...they go on the board at the very last minute and for cleanings are in there for less than 8 min but they are able to fully clean, floss and examine their entire mouth safely.) They bite, hit, scratch ... They struggle with teeth brushing at home but are able to let me do atleast 1 good brushing a day and flossing 1-2x a week....so cleanings are that much more important. This visit yesterday was the toughest appt yet and we are possibly going to sedated cleanings but want to see how the next few cleanings go before we go there. The boys are good, they let me brush this morning but after i got into the car i lost it a bit. Its traumatic and for me, the one who is terrified, I hit my limit... im supposed to be the calm and reassuring one...its hard to watch but important for others to realize just what goes into being a parent for kids that need extra, making decisions, etc. It's not easy but we do it for them to ensure they are healthy (mentally, physically, emotionally) #harddecisions #oralhealth #papooseboard #dontmesswithmybabies #autism #mommaof4wasd #autismawareness #sensoryissues #nonverbal
