@christian.autism.adhd: I have autism. I have ADHD. I’ve also raised two autistic and ADHD children. So when I say that traditional discipline often doesn’t work for neurodivergent kids… it’s not just theory. I’ve lived it from both sides. Different doesn’t mean fewer boundaries. It doesn’t mean permissive parenting. It means understanding why a behavior is happening so you can respond in a way that actually teaches instead of just punishes. The goal isn’t to make our kids look more compliant. The goal is to help them build the skills they’ll need for life while protecting the relationship along the way. When we understand their wiring, discipline becomes more effective—not because we’ve lowered the standard, but because we’ve changed the approach. 💙 Different brains deserve wise parenting, not one-size-fits-all parenting. #AutismParenting #ADHDParenting #Neurodivergent #ChristianParenting #CalmAuthority
Yes the “try again” method is Huge!! Because it helps them learn that there will be the opportunity in the future to do this differently. I even say it in the moment, when they yell or are not kind in their actions.

I’ve adapted this parenting style over the years mainly by trial and error and also thinking about what would’ve helped me more when I was a kid and I’ve been told by many people including one of my sons teachers and old principal that I wasn’t disciplining my child enough and that’s why he was acting out when he was younger. It’s so nice to finally see some reassurance that I’m doing the best thing for my son

my parents when they took my stuff it taught me that anyone can just come and steal anything you own so there's no point knowing anything that's the lesson I took from him

I genuinely need help understanding something, and i mean it sincerely, i have ZERO experience with autism, why do moms of autistic children give them ipads? What do they do on the ipads? From someone who doesnt have knowledge of it, to me it looks like a severe dependency or even addiction. I have crippling adhd so im watching for that in my daughter and I am extremely adamant about not getting my daughter (who to my knowledge is not neurodivergent) an ipad until waaaaaay later as she is only 1.5. I guess i just dont understand how its beneficial, and id really like to be educated about it

I have a question I have adhd recently diagnosed and I’m trying to figure out my own mental health situation and I’m struggling with my physical health as well and it’s hard for me to stay on a routine so how would I be able to keep my kids on a routine? They are one and two.
