Should I also do a demo post? “Dry brush toward the heart” is a great rule of thumb, but there are two exceptions I always go by. Why? Because that’s the general direction the superficial lymphatic flow from these areas travels toward nearby lymph node clusters. 1️⃣ The chest — whichever side of the chest I’m on, I dry brush toward that underarm (the axillary lymph nodes). 2️⃣ The lower belly — from the belly button down, I dry brush toward the groin (the inguinal lymph nodes). For the arms and legs, I like to start closest to the trunk, then continue brushing upward. I think of it like opening the pathway first before encouraging everything farther away to move along. How does dry brushing work? Around 70–80% of your lymphatic vessels are superficial, meaning they sit just below the skin. The gentle sweeping motion of the brush helps stimulate the skin while encouraging superficial lymphatic flow. Plus, it lightly exfoliates away dry skin and boosts circulation, leaving your skin looking smoother, brighter, and more refreshed.
