While you want to start driving and before engaging D(Drive) gear,first engage to N(Neutral) then release handbrake then engage to D(Drive) Same applies when you stop,first shift to N(Neutral),engage handbrake then shift to P(Parking) This procedure will not tamper with your gearbox,

On step 6 , press the brake pedal to stop the car. Once stopped, shift to Neutral (N) and engage the handbrake. Once you apply the hand brake, release the brakes slowly to make sure the handbrake holds and the vehicle doesn't roll. Once you confirm the vehicle won't move , Press the brake pedal, turn off the engine and shift to Park(P). Note this is for mostly manual handbrake vehicles.

When stopping the car: 1. Let the car make a complete stop 2. Shift to neutral 3. Engage the handbrake 4. Now shift to parking while pressing the brake pedal 5. Shut off the engine
