Backstory: we just moved from California to Maryland due to my husband being in the military. We moved into this rental property on June 30th and we immediately noticed a puddle of water on the basement floor upon inspection. We put a work order in and a contractor came out and “fixed” the issue (which was a clogged drain and the sump pump). Today we had a storm and when my husband and I went down to the basement to make sure everything was good, we were surprised to find yet another puddle of water. Within minutes, water was rushing in through the doors and we were standing in water up to our knees. We had thousands of dollars worth of items stored down there, to include sentimental items that can never be replaced. All of which are completely ruined.
