@chillin.with.my.h: 🍂 STOP WAITING FOR FALL TO START YOUR FALL GARDEN! 🌱 If you want a big fall harvest, the work starts NOW. And trust me, waiting until the weather cools down is one of the biggest mistakes you can make! Here are 10 tips for a successful fall garden: 🌱 1. Start early. Many fall crops need to be planted in July or August. 📅 2. Know your first frost date. Count backward from your expected frost date to figure out when to plant. 🥦 3. Choose cold-hardy crops. Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, spinach, carrots, radishes, lettuce, peas & turnips are great choices. ☀️ 4. Give them plenty of sun. Shorter fall days mean every bit of sunlight counts. 💧 5. Keep seedlings watered. Summer heat can dry them out FAST. 🌡️ 6. Protect young plants from heat. Shade cloth can help cool-season seedlings survive those hot August days. 🌾 7. Feed your soil. Add compost before planting to give your crops the nutrients they need. 🐛 8. Keep watching for pests. Cabbage worms, aphids and flea beetles don’t take the summer off! 🍂 9. Mulch when temperatures cool. Mulch helps regulate soil temperature and moisture. ❄️ 10. Prepare for frost NOW Have row covers, frost blankets or hoops ready before that first cold night hits. And here’s the secret: your fall garden doesn’t start when fall arrives. It starts weeks before. 👀 🌱 What are you growing in your fall garden this year? Drop your crop list in the comments! And save this post so you can come back to it when you’re planning your fall planting!#garden #gardening #fall #tips #gardeningtips
