@interestingengineering: Chinese robotics firm DOBOT has launched LUMO, a 1.3-metre humanoid it calls the world's first embodied all-terrain robot, built to walk over grass, sand and cobblestone and move between outdoor, home and office settings. In the launch video it spars with a child, lands a backflip, reads emotions, dances to music, and switches to a quiet gait to turn off the lights once its owner falls asleep. DOBOT has not yet released hardware specs, pricing or a ship date.

Almost every humanoid robot you’ve seen, is being teleoperated. The software is lagging behind the hardware and artificial intelligence hasn’t helped a bit to move this along.
