Yulia Mont :
I remember when I first started studying architecture. Back then, I thought my purpose was simply to finish my degree and get a job as an architect.
Well, almost five years later, I’m finishing my degree, and I’m working at a really good architecture firm. And with this post, I just realized that I’ve been so focused on what comes next (a better job, better pay, moving out on my own, starting my own business, and so on) that I never really stopped to realize that the dreams my 18-year-old self had actually came true.
And maybe that’s because, in the end, those things were never really my purpose.
When they happened, I didn’t even have time to enjoy them thinking about the next thing I wanted to achieve, all these ambitions that belonged to the future shaped in the form of "my new purpose".
Now, I’m starting to realize that maybe my purpose is much simpler than i thought. Maybe it’s about living day by day, experiencing the places and people around me, loving them, and actually being present for all the beautiful things happening right now.
Because yes, I’m grateful that I finished my degree and got my job because of it. But when I think about the journey that brought me here, the things that really fill me with nostalgia aren’t the achievements themselves. It’s the afternoons in college, the weekends spent doing homework, the late-night calls with friends, the support from my family, and all those little interactions with people who shared the same passions as me.
And I think my purpose is somewhere in between all of those things and all the beautiful days full of new experiences that are yet to come.
