@gamesdotgg: Tetsuya Nomura made a surprise appearance at D23 this weekend and had one message for anyone who thought Kingdom Hearts 4 would be delayed. He confidently addressed the concerns, saying: "I want to set the record straight: That is not happening." Co-director Tai Yasue backed him up, confirming the late 2027 release window is a "100% thing." Nomura also revealed that development of the mastered version is progressing "way faster than expected" and said he is looking forward to seeing fans play it. The game will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. A new trailer was also shown at D23 confirming a Coco world, with Sora and Miguel fighting off the Heartless in the Land of the Dead. I don’t understand why people think this will get delayed significantly when Nomura set clear expectations on the 3rd one and people just didn’t listen. He said when 2 final mix came out about 3 “no way this comes out before 2012 because i have to work on versus 13”. Then when KH3 was announced at e3 2013 he said “this was announced way too early in our development” and Hashimoto said since Nomura is directing both games expect a gap in the release of the games. Once Nomura was fully on development it took 4 years to make the game and it was only 1.5 years after the gameplay trailer for the game to come out. The only thing that was really fucked in this was SE dropping the announcement early and also putting out that clear test gameplay trailer(which looked like a shitty kh2 reskin anyway), so i get people getting tricked from that but otherwise with KH4 it was announced in 2022 with a late 27 release date, its the same timeline from when they prematurely announced KH3 except they didn’t drop gameplay trailers till the game was actually closer to completion and it shows in the quality of the trailer.

My idea is all they've doing is they're taking most of Kingdom hearts, 3s engine and then adding finer details/ new worlds. I only say that because the heartless look exactly like Kingdom hearts 3 except for the city area.
