I used to have to go into sessions and 'meditate' while listening to a CD, from ages 16 to 18. I hated it, and I recognise now that it was fucked up to locate the problem in me when it was in the abuse I had suffered throughout childhood from my parents, and the constant targeting by peers as an obviously gay guy. Like the problem was my reaction to the abuse, not the abuse or environment I was still in.

Yep. My experience with "therapy" 💯💯💯 percent. My first session post 🍇 at 17 was to find all the ways I was responsible for making my 🍇ist identify me as 🍇able. It was meant to be empowering, to make me feel like I had control over my life. Shocker: it didn't work.
