Nursing Responsibilities: ✔️ Explain the procedure and reduce patient anxiety. ✔️ Help the patient maintain the correct position. ✔️ Instruct the patient to remain still and avoid coughing during needle insertion. ✔️ Monitor respiratory status before, during, and after the procedure. ✔️ Observe for complications such as pneumothorax, bleeding, or respiratory distress. 💡 NCLEX Tip: After a thoracentesis, assess breath sounds, oxygen saturation, and the puncture site.
