Red John been a random sheriff made perfect sense it was was how rushed it was and how little explanation there was from him that felt disappointing especially when the build up to it had so many brilliantly written complex characters and stories. The fact they’d didn’t even show the team finding out red John was dead was disappointing too

Genuinely any story that isn't written to completion from the beginning is going to be a little wonky. The fact they didn't know who Red John was going to be at the start was already going to nerf the potential of the payoff in the end
