People forget last years ice storm in Tennessee had people without power 4+ days too. El Niño is gonna bring a lot of ice storms and tornado threats in south east and without fema people don’t realize with any natural disasters locals are kinda left to fend for themselves or underfunded resources 😔

Maybe it’s time for a general strike and shake up the system. They obviously don’t care about us.

we have trees and live wires still blocking roads after OVER a week. a woman and her home exploded in Portage during the storm. it was reported to be equivalent to category 2 hurricane strength winds. my front door blew open in Lake Station. my mom, 40 mins south, in Crown Point nearly died at work. the roof partially came off. ac unit got knocked off, and gas line was open

I am literally using this as an example to my partner who is not into prepping even a fraction as much as I am, to get a large battery with solar.... at the very least I would need to keep my freezer going, otherwise we'd lose hundreds of dollars worth of meat.... this is a cautionary tale because this is what we're looking at for the future... the weather is unpredictable, the landscape is changing...
