PKU means my body can’t properly process phenylalanine, so pregnancy requires strict dietary management and constant monitoring to protect my baby’s development. I’ve already been hospitalized twice during this pregnancy because of my PKU, and I’ve had to pay for a lot of my medical care out of pocket.
