@thewealthdept: Assuming I don’t contribute another cent towards retirement, here’s what I found when I calculated the numbers for my own portfolio: 1) Amounts invested in equities end up contributing the most to my retirement nest egg. That’s due to the higher assumed rate of return, but it’s not guaranteed and comes with risk. 2) Adjusting for inflation brings the real value back down to earth. It’s not fun, but it’s necessary to account for it. I assumed a 2% annual inflation rate. The average in Singapore for the last 30 years is about 1.8%. 3) When you can stop saving for retirement depends on how much you ultimately need to sustain your desired lifestyle. With the power of compounding, you may be closer to your target than you think, as long as you manage your funds well and keep making good decisions today for your future. #PersonalFinance #investing #wealth #retirement #money
