the term for one person controlling the game and making each players decision is Quarterbacking. and some games are worse than others at that happening pandemic is maybe the worst game for that specifically I've played but in general I do like the game

I disagree on Heat – and not only because I love it, but because i don’t see your criticism. It plays perfectly fine even with two players, because you can very easily fill up the field with the legends. They are very quick and easy to handle and work surprisingly well. And if you want them to be stronger, there‘s a small box expansion for exactly that. And I also don’t think that paralysis analysis is a big factor. Decisions are made simultaneously – no matter the player count, this takes as long as the slowest player takes. The only thing that takes longer in higher player counts is actually playing out the turns.

100% agree on co-op games they can be fine when made in a way that prevents 1 player from making most of the decisions, but otherwise the best 1 or 2 players play for everyone. Also the randomness in difficult tends to be a recurring issue as games can get super difficult due to a few bad draws.

heats bot system for filling the track when you have less than 6 players is easy to run, and really good. no reason to ever have less than 6 cars on the map even with less people. you're really missing out not trying that.

my problem with heat is that I feel like the first lap really does not matter at all. I've had games where I'm well behind and games where I'm in the lead and the rubber banding mechanics make it so that it really only matters how you end

For Dune Imperium, I've played it twice. 2nd play was a little bit more enjoyable but like me saying 1st playthrough it was a 4/10 and the second was a 4.5/10. I know people love it but I personally find it to be meh.
