"Okay, that's embarrassing." "It really is." "I thought it was mine." "You thought wrong." The girl laughed despite herself. "Fine. I'll buy you another one." "You better." Five minutes later, they were sitting together with two iced americanos. By the end of the conversation, Jennie learned the girl's name was Lalisa Manoban. By the end of the semester, they somehow knew each other's schedules better than their own. By the end of college... They were inseparable. Neither of them remembered exactly when it happened. It just did. Somewhere between late-night study sessions, group projects, spontaneous food trips, and helping each other survive exams... They became each other's favorite person. — Years later... Lisa opened her own dance studio. Jennie built a successful career in marketing. Different careers. Different schedules. Yet somehow... Every day still ended with them together. Whether it was dinner, coffee, grocery shopping, or simply sitting beside each other while doing absolutely nothing. Being apart felt strange. Being together felt normal. — One evening, Lisa was sitting on Jennie's couch while complaining about her landlord. "She raised my rent again." Jennie looked up from her laptop. "Again?" "Again." Then casually said, "...Move in with me." Lisa sat upright. "What?" Jennie shrugged. "We're together every day anyway." Lisa stared. Jennie continued. "You leave clothes here." "You leave snacks here." "You somehow have skincare products in my bathroom." Lisa pointed at her. "You've been using my moisturizer." "That's not the point." "That is absolutely the point." Jennie rolled her eyes. "We can split expenses." "You'll save money." Lisa remained quiet. Jennie looked away. "And..." "And?" Jennie suddenly became interested in her laptop. "It'd be nice." Lisa smiled. "What would?" Jennie's ears turned slightly pink. "Coming home and knowing you're already here." For some reason, Lisa's heart skipped. But she ignored it. Instead she laughed. "That was surprisingly sweet." "Don't make it weird." "I'm making it weird." "Lisa." Lisa grinned. "Jennie." They stared at each other before laughing. Then Lisa extended her hand. "Roommates?" Jennie shook it. "Roommates." From that day on, it stopped being Jennie's condo. It became theirs. — Years passed. Their social media accounts became suspiciously full of each other. Coffee dates. Vacation photos. Birthday surprises. Mirror selfies. Late-night convenience store runs. Lisa dancing in the kitchen. Jennie sleeping on the couch. Jennie posting Lisa. Lisa posting Jennie.
