@garan_buller: For many rural Oregonians, groceries cost a lot more than just what we see on the receipt. There’s the fuel, the miles traveled, the time, and the planning that goes into simply getting the food we need. While I’m blessed to have what I need right now, many people are forced to make difficult choices between putting food on the table and going without other basic necessities. We need to Rethink Hunger in Oregon and we can’t look at just one story —we have to look at all of the challenges and how they are connected. Hunger isn’t just about the cost of food. It’s about access, transportation, distance, and the many hurdles that come with putting food on the table.
