My daughter got “witches milk” when she was a few days old. It freaked me out but apparently it’s normal. It cleared up after a few days but no one told me 😭

Girl moms, please wipe inside the folds 😳 no doctor should tell you not to completely clean them. Urine and feces get in the folds all the time. Please clean them. Just not inside any holes OBVIOUSLY

I had a girl first. My second was a boy. I had no idea that they sometimes got erections during diaper changes. Was very surprised the first time I saw that. I never hear anyone mention it! I’m nervous even leaving this comment though so like I get why

pink color in the diapers is pseudomenstruation- a mini period due to withdrawal from maternal hormones. Clears up in a few days & is completely normal

I know this is probably obvious but if you’re overwhelmed, put the baby in a safe place and walk away. Take a shower. Eat something. I know it feels like you’re breaking a rule but a baby never died from crying and screaming. Babies HAVE died from frustrated, overwhelmed and exhausted parents.

Pediatric nurse here, please clean between the folds, gently but always with warm water and non fragrant, sensitive suds ❤️Wipes are not always enough

Some things I learned after becoming a mom (specifically about newborns): no honey under the age of 1. Baby’s need vitamin d drops if they are breastfed (even partially) within the first weeks of life until they are fully weaned. A fever is an emergency for babies under 3 months and should be checked out asap. Also skin to skin with your baby isn’t just for right after birth! It’s extremely beneficial in the days and weeks following birth as well! There are so many great things it helps with

Baby girls can bleed down there and it’s totally normal. Nobody warned me about that and it happened with my second daughter and I absolutely freaked. I have two daughters and my first only had that rust colored dust. My second had a full blown period for a few days. Wild stuff!

I was scared to say that she looked odd by her folds and turns out she had labial fusion and I had to teach her skin not to stick to itself for like 2 weeks. 😖

That white in the folds, my midwife of over 3,000 successful live natural births and over 30 years experience told me to clean it gently with q-tips and warm water. Don't believe everything you see on the Internet.

I couldn't believe that they let anyone just have a baby and then take it home. like. what do you mean this is mine now. I had helped raise 2 nephews and made enough money babysitting to pay cash for my first car. I knew kids. but it never occured to me that you just take them home. it was wild. it turned out okay. she's almost 31 now and her baby sister is 28.

My son had a weak cry and pulling in under his ribs, chest, and neck. He’d wheeze anytime he did tummy time. He had weak lungs but also found out that he has asthma. He grew out of it but obviously still has asthma. They told me to let him cry because it was the only way to strengthen his lungs. I felt bad for doing it. But they were right. It was 30 seconds longer to wait but it helped.
