@metrouk: Graduating from university could mean entering one of the toughest job markets in years. The number of graduate vacancies advertised in the UK has almost halved in just 12 months, with job site Adzuna recording just 8,383 roles in July, compared with 15,397 a year earlier. It's the lowest number since records began in 2016 and a huge drop from 2017, when more than 55,800 graduate jobs were listed. At the same time, competition is getting tougher, with 2.14 job seekers for every vacancy, up from 1.93 last year. Employers are pointing to AI, rising employment costs, higher minimum wages and increased National Insurance costs as factors making entry-level hiring more difficult. So for anyone graduating this summer: good luck out there. 🫠 #Graduates #GraduateJobs #UKJobs #YouthUnemployment #JobsMarket

My son is just getting ready to send his ucas form. I honestly don't know what advice to give him. It seems a complete waste of time and waste of tens of thousands of pounds to go to university. But what else do you do if there aren't jobs either?

Not just grad jobs. There is literally nothing in the market unless it’s a managerial or director position

AI that completely takes over jobs should be banned - yes we'll probably live in a world where AI will assist us and can't avoid it but straight up taking over jobs is wrong

There needs to be government backed laws that require a certain amount of entry level jobs from large corporations offered each year

I call bullshit on this headline. Where’s the data on the 50% being replaced by AI beyond doubt?

It’s hilarious because we aren’t there yet and companies are going full speed ahead. Most of them will regret their decisions. AI isn’t cheap. It costs a lot to maintain and it messes up a lot. It’s not meant to make decisions it’s meant to help make a decision. There is a difference.

Job applications are being reviewed by AI too so not only are there fewer jobs but little room for error when applying.

Numbers aren’t even real once you realize BLS sources their info from LinkedIn job posting metadata, it’s probably way worse 💀

Not just that but they are also replacing the entire job selection process with ai literally looking for a perfect candidate but there are now in this society especially after covid. They are red flagging good workers

it's going to backlash soon guys, it's way more expensive to train and upkeep it most cases than it is to hire new people. Hopefully this slop passes soon

entry level roles are stepping stones that can't be skipped. not everyone can come in as a 10 year experienced senior. how are they expecting to train and get experience?????
