This is not mythology. Archaeology is uncovering physical evidence from the world described in the Bible. Excavations are revealing coins connected to historical figures including Herod the Great, Pontius Pilate, Festus, Felix, Agrippa I and Agrippa II. Archaeologists are also uncovering thousands of pottery fragments and stone vessels that shed light on daily life and religious practices in the first century. Some of those stone vessels bring to mind the Gospel account of Jesus turning water into wine at Cana. For archaeologist Scott Stripling, digging into the soil is more than uncovering ancient artifacts. It is a way of connecting with the people, culture and history behind the biblical text. “You can read the Bible, you can walk the Bible, but the ultimate is to dig the Bible.” #BiblicalArchaeology #Bible #Israel #Archaeology #BibleHistory
