@metrouk: The infamous Thameslink “ironing board” seats are finally getting a makeover. After years of commuters complaining that the seats on Class 700 trains are painfully uncomfortable, Thameslink is set to add thicker cushioning to the seat bases and backrests across all 115 trains from next year. The upgrade will involve more than 60,000 new cushion sets and take up to two years to complete. The 70 trains currently without them will also get seat-back tables. There is, however, one catch: the legroom isn't changing, and standard-class passengers still won't get power sockets. 😭 The trains have been dubbed “ironing boards” by frustrated passengers since their introduction, with the design prioritising capacity and standing space on some of Britain's busiest commuter routes. #Thameslink #London #UKNews #Commuters #Trains
