@elevatemd: If your ferritin is below 50 and you feel like 💩… THIS VIDEO IS FOR YOU! 🫠 ⚠️ Disclaimer: This is specifically for those of you whose ferritin is under 50, but your CBC and iron levels are still “normal.” If your iron levels are low (anemia), then you will likely need a more aggressive/individualized protocol! 1️⃣ First things first, we gotta address your period. During perimenopause, progesterone levels begin to drop, which can cause heavier and more frequent periods, and in some cases even fibroids or polyps. More blood loss month after month means your iron stores never get the chance to recover. Progesterone therapy can be a great tool to help regulate your cycle and reduce iron depletion. 2️⃣ Next, we need to replace what you’ve lost. Depending on how low your ferritin is, this may look different for everyone. For milder cases, supplementing with iron just during your period is usually adequate. But if your ferritin levels are significantly deficient, then you may need a higher dose iron 2-3x per week. Supplementing with iron can be finicky, so here’s how to maximize absorption… ☑️ Take it with Vitamin C to boost absorption ☑️ Avoid taking it with calcium, dairy, coffee, or tea, since these block absorption ☑️ Take it on an empty stomach if tolerated, or with a light snack if it upsets your stomach ☑️ Space it out from thyroid medication by at least 4 hours ☑️ Consider every-other-day dosing, since research shows this may improve absorption for some people ☑️ Look for iron bisglycinate, which tends to be easier on the stomach than ferrous sulfate (🔗 in bio) 🩺📲 If you’re in the US and curious about hormone therapy for perimenopause or menopause symptom management, go to the 🔗 in my bio to book a free 30 minute call with my team to learn how to get started. 🤗 #perimenopause #hormonehealth #lowferritin #womenover30 #womenover40

My ferritin is 4 doctor to me to continue my supplements. Well clearly they aren’t working so I have changed to a high dose liquid iron supplement. I’m definitely feeling better since starting this. I’m about finished with the first bottle and gonna do a second. Then find yet another doctor.

I haven’t had a period since April, I bled for half a day in July, but that’s it, dr say can’t give me HRT until I’m in full menopause even though friends younger than me have it, and they get a period every month

My ferritin is 40 and my vitamin d 22.7. My hair is falling out a lot. I get random anxiety when resting. It scares me and sometimes it turns into panic attacks. Then that leads to depression and hopelessness.
