Timing Belt & Water Pump Installation. • Another important part of the 2.0 TDI EA288 timing belt replacement. This time we install the complete timing drive and correctly set everything up before final assembly. • The new rollers, water pump and timing belt are installed. I also show a very useful detail: how to prepare the tensioner and move it into the correct installation position before fitting the belt. • The correct tensioning procedure is especially important. All shafts must be locked in position, while the camshaft and high-pressure fuel pump sprockets remain loosened so they can move during the tensioning process. • Only after the belt has been correctly tensioned are the sprockets finally tightened.
