The government seems to focus a lot on supporting preschool operators, preschool centres, grants for families and encouraging more people to join the infant care and preschool sector. But are they really looking at and understanding the difficulties that preschool and infant care teachers face on the ground? Yes, you want to recruit more teachers, but why are there so many teachers leaving the sector in the first place? We are dealing with manpower shortages, high teacher child ratios, heavy workloads, burnout, stress, challenging parent interactions and a lack of support from management. If we genuinely want to attract and retain more educators, we need to go to the root of the problem first. Listen to the teachers who are actually working on the ground, understand what they are going through, and address the working conditions. Only then can we meaningfully talk about recruiting more teachers and achieving all the other goals mentioned above.

get from WHERE? as an 8th year teacher, i wanna quit already with the low pay to which I cannot use to save coz I'm living salary to salary. paper work never ending because ratio is crazy (I have 19 N2s) have to bring work home despite the no work on Saturdays. the prospect to continue working in the preschool sector is not so good. I'm even talking off to some of my younger relatives of the CONs of working here that the PROs.

You need to raise the pay of these preschool teachers! Those lower income have their fees $10-$30 for childcare while the middle income still pays few hundreds monthly but as a parent, preschool teachers deserves higher pay for the workload that they have. @goh.pei.ming
