Back in the day braids didn’t break hair off it actually grew hair, we used hot water to seal ends, not so much of the braid jam, mostly grease. We weren’t natural either so we didn’t need much product. It has to be the braid hair that’s breaking down the hair. 😵‍💫 I’m thinking washing the braiding hair before use , try human hair or hair that’s free of chemicals.
