It takes me 30 minutes to travel 11 miles in Ocala. That's an average of 22 mph. Meanwhile, it takes 24 minutes to travel 16 miles from where I live in the backwoods to my preferred grocery store (40 mph average), just for comparison. I hate going to Ocala for anything.

don’t get me started on 200. it’s faster to take backroads than going on there. it’s so unlivable here, the cheapest rent is just under 1k. i was born here and now that i’m of age to move out i literally cannot.

I bought an old ass house in an old ass farming area, the owners are 5 generations of farmers and won’t sell. I’ve told them lmk cause I’ll try to buy at least 10 acres around me if they do decide to sell. I fixed up my old girl and love the quiet. I moved here loving it but 42 has fatalities almost daily. Same with 25. Put up ugly cookie cutter houses that don’t last… people need to realize there’s nothing to do here. The traffic is bad. And our PD and fire department are overwhelmed so your on your own

I moved here 20 years ago, so I’m technically what they call a “transplant” around here, but I have watched everything that was beautiful about Ocala be bulldozed. It’s heartbreaking. Not to mention they aren’t replacing enough trees and keep cutting down more. Every year is becoming progressively hotter and more unbearable. The trees also take the impact of the storms. Honestly, EVERYTHING went downhill after Covid. Yes, we needed some new streets, some new businesses but we definitely didn’t need all of these cheap ass “luxury apts” or the poorly built homes, nor did we need a car wash or storage facility on every corner. It’s madness at this point and I can’t wait until I can GTFOH.

I remember when I could walk... WALK across hwy 200 by the college and not see one car right away. that was the 90s. it's just sad now

Yup. I moved here 4 yrs ago, and in those 4 yrs half the land that used to be here has now been bull dozed and turned into houses or some other nonsense. Really sad.

It is so sad what is happening to Ocala. Even a lot of the horse farms are now strip malls or subdivisions. One of my favorite pieces of land on 200 is now a couple of car dealerships. 😢

We loved Ocala when we moved 3 years ago. I can’t wait to leave here. Absolutely unnecessary to keep putting random houses and car washes up

The traffic fucking sucks... Its almost as bad as Tampa... Ocala is the biggest big city near me and I refuse to go there because its nothing but shity drivers and takes forever to get where you wana go

When I first moved here, I didn’t wanna drive anywhere. I was terrified to. I could handle driving in LA. I could handle driving in St. Louis. I could handle driving Atlanta. But you put me here in little podunk Ocala, and it took me two months to be brave enough. It’s terrible.
