I was an Alison as a kid and I went by Ali or Al and if I get to transition and change my name I still want to be Al. Alan sounds nicer than Allen, to me. names are fun.

I had a coworker with my deadname so I'd just ignore any request to be done under my deadname towards me and direct it to my coworker. they eventually started using my correct name. it was great

At birth i got my first and middle from a close male approximation of my mother's first and middle. i considered keeping that association but realized that i was just people pleasing, however i did keep the initials. my first name is used by all genders so i just changed the spelling.

its been 8 years and my deadname- even if i hear it in a movie or on tv- gives me a jolt of anxiety/despair and if it is on tv ill shut it off and not continue watching. its not too common of a name thankfully. i would hate if a family member had that name.
