Let’s rate some old psych treatments! 1) Lobotomies: Started in the 1930s by Dr Moniz. Nope, 0/10 3) Hydrotherapy: Patients were wrapped in either hot or cold sheets to calm agitation. 2/10. 4) ECT: Yes! The idea with ECT was that inducing therapeutic seizures under anesthesia could help with several psychiatric conditions. This methodology has come a long way, it is now extremely safe, effective, and a fantastic treatment. 9/10.
