Richard Nobes Avoids Prison Over 6,000 Abuse Images 👇 FULL CASE DETAILS BELOW 👇 Richard Nobes, aged 49 of Sheffield Street, Carlisle, avoided immediate custody after amassing over 6,300 indecent images of children as young as six years old. Acting on intelligence, police raided his property, where Nobes attempted to dismiss his offending by claiming the activity was years ago. Specialist digital forensic officers recovered 1,359 Category A images—the most severe classification—alongside 674 Category B, thousands of Category C files, and prohibited images. Detectives discovered Nobes sourced the illicit material across a six-month window using a social media platform popular with young people, while distributing files to others online. Judge Andrew Jefferies KC condemned the massive volume of abuse material, highlighting moving footage depicting primary school-aged children. However, the court suspended his eight-month prison term for two years, citing his role as a carer for his elderly father and supposed prospects of rehabilitation. Nobes received 40 rehabilitation days, a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order restricting internet use, and 10 years on the Sex Offenders Register. Despite strict monitoring orders, his active social media presence was reported to police in 2026. #ukcrime #uknews #courtnews #truecrimeuk #publicsafety
