🚨Handling condescending comments👇 When someone makes a belittling comment especially when they are more senior to you it can be really difficult to know how to respond without causing conflict. We may respond in a passive aggressive way or keep how we’re feeling held inside. The trouble is then we haven’t addressed the situation and it’s likely it will happen again. We have to teach people how to treat us and what we will and will not tolerate. In this scenario in the first instance I would recommend being respectful and directly saying what you need: “Thank you for clarifying that. Can you call me Claire instead of little missy. I’d feel more comfortable with that” If it happens again then you can be more assertive.
