@profahmedhankir: STOP ROMANTICIZING HEALING AND TRAUMA Trauma can make you wiser. It can make you stronger. But sometimes, it also leaves a scar. Post-traumatic growth is real. But so are the lasting effects of trauma. Healing can be messy, non-linear and incomplete—and that doesn’t make it meaningless. You can grow around a wound without pretending the wound was a gift.
As a bereaved mother in deep mourning after loosing a child, I cannot say I find this very helpful. I don’t think there is any romanticizing of trauma and heeling. Rather the opposite when we are told it will become even harder as the years passes. We need hope, that we van grow a meaningful life around and with the loss and sorrow. Of course no one can promise you that the waves will never hit you after 10-100 years or so - but it will never ever be as hard as it was the first weeks and months accepting that the trauma did happen and that the loss is permanent. I wish for more positive, yet realistic, coaching. We need it.

True.....but yes , we cannot erase our history.
Tx Prof, for sharing.
Thanks for sharing this insight. This is a good reminder when people start forgetting that I wouldn’t may not completely be erased and kept wondering why am I not healing?

For me it about learning to live with my trauma so it doesn’t impact me negatively every day and it means I can gain a brighter future for myself where I am not controlled by my past. Iv been in therapy just over 3 years and I still got along way to go. I know for me I want to build a future for myself because unfortunately all I have known is trauma ever since I was a child. So for me it self discovery that going to help me

Thank you! That goes along with romanticizing forgiveness. I reserve the right to heal without forgetting or forgiving. 🤷🏽♀️
