basic maintenance on a down flow (counterflow) category 1 80% furnace. This one was neglected and needed a good cleaning. before we start we give it a quick run to make sure it's operational. a wick check of inducer Amps compared to the data tag. make sure the flames look good, and then check the blower Amps after the inducer cycles off. just a quick run before it heats up. then it's time to clean. I start with the shop back and a paint brush and rags. then I disassemble the flue to access the blower. The furnace was installed behind a wall so the blower is not going to come out without a lot more disassembly so I clean it the best I can in place. I don't normally pull and clean the burners but since it was dirty and it was my first time here I did the extra step. this allows me to inspect the heat exchanger and the burner face. I pull and clean the flame sensor and note the hot surface if it is going bad. I inspect the inducer fan and the flue before putting everything back together. next video will be the documentation #love2hvac #furnace #hvac
