@losangeleslurking: Rest Easy, HELCH. // You were a real one. A month ago I was in London. I put story up on IG and ENDEM also gave HELCH a heads up that I was in town. He called me on Instagram and offered to show me around. I was only in town for 2 days but met him at midnight outside of his tunnel that he spent 192 hours painting (yes, that is a specific amount of time that he tracked over the course of 6 months of putting in work solo night after night). We hit it off and talked about our shared love of music ranging from The Streets (and Mike Skinner’s brilliant lyrics) hence my choosing this song for a memorial video. While I only met HELCH a month ago, we stayed in touch since and he sent me video footage and said he was excited for me to do a video on him. I am sad that it’s now a tribute. I’ll also say this, it was clear to me in our conversations he viewed his place in art and life as a work in progress. He was self-deprecating and humble and said he had a long way to go. I admired his humility and perspective. He wanted to keep going and he took any of critiques his work/actions to heart. His mantra showed - Keep putting in work, keep improving. Give it your all. No Half Measures.
