Yara was reportedly struck by a car and left paralyzed on the streets of Alexandria, Egypt. Unable to stand or even shift her body off the ground, she remained helpless for days, long enough for pressure sores to develop into deep, painful ulcers across her body. By the time rescuers reached her, Yara was dehydrated, carrying parasites, and suffering from severe wounds that desperately needed treatment. Her team immediately ran bloodwork, and thankfully, her internal health came back stable. Despite everything her body had endured, there was still hope that she could heal. Yara has now been receiving care for roughly two weeks, and she is making encouraging progress. Her veterinarian has her on an intensive treatment protocol, with her wounds carefully cleaned and redressed every day. She is also receiving medications, parasite treatment, close monitoring, and quality nutrition to help her body regain strength and rebuild damaged tissue. She is already doing much better than when she first arrived, but her recovery is far from over. Ulcers this severe heal slowly, meaning Yara will need weeks of continued wound care, daily dressing changes, medications, medical supplies, and proper nutrition. Her treatment cannot stop until her wounds have fully closed and her condition has stabilized. After spending days helpless and alone, Yara finally has people fighting for her.
