Tropical Depression Pilandok (Invest 94W) currently has a high potential for further development over the next 24 hours. Maximum sustained surface winds are estimated at 35–45 km/h (20–25 knots), with a minimum sea-level pressure near 1002 hPa. Infrared satellite imagery depicts a broad low-level circulation center partially obscured by persistent convection concentrated along the western and southern portions of the system. A MetOp-B ASCAT pass revealed relatively weak winds near the circulation center, surrounded by stronger winds of up to 46 km/h (25 knots). Environmental conditions remain generally favorable for development, characterized by low vertical wind shear of 10–15 knots, warm sea-surface temperatures of 29–30°C, abundant atmospheric moisture, and strong equatorward outflow aloft. Only a modest tightening of the circulation is needed for the system to be classified as a tropical depression. Most global and ensemble guidance indicates that 94W will have a limited window to consolidate before the circulation becomes increasingly elongated and eventually opens into a trough. The system is currently embedded within a broader trough extending from Taiwan toward the Mariana Islands. Over the coming days, additional circulations may develop along this trough and track northwestward, potentially increasing the risk of direct impacts across the Ryukyu Islands. Although this scenario is supported by several ensemble modeling systems, the eventual impacts will depend heavily on the development and evolution of these subsequent circulations, which have yet to form. Consequently, considerable uncertainty remains regarding tropical cyclone development and potential impacts across the East China Sea region over the next several days. #PilandokPH #Habagat #SouthwestMonsoon #Luzon #Visayas #MetroManila #PhilippinesWeather #PAGASA #WeatherUpdate #RainfallAlert #meteorology
