@allabout_oc: HOA or no HOA? I'm choosing the HOA. I jokingly call it my "boat in the yard insurance." If I'm buying a home, I don't want to find out my neighbor can park an old RV in the yard, put a boat on cinder blocks, paint the house bright pink and blast music all day. In an HOA community, there are rules everyone agrees to follow. For me, that's worth paying for. But there is absolutely a tradeoff. If you want more freedom to do whatever you want with your property, an HOA probably isn't for you. If you care more about consistency throughout the neighborhood, an HOA can be a huge benefit. Neither is right or wrong. But I'm taking the HOA. Which are you choosing? Follow for more honest Orange County real estate news. Christian Stubbs | DRE# 02082942 | Realtor® All About Orange County

Oh yes, buy in Irvine with a strict HOA in 12 shades of beige. Pretty sure those in Laguna Beach, CDM and Lemon Heights are loving their no HOA neighborhood’s.
