My 15 year old autistic son also has Selective mutism and a lot of people don’t understand these kids are not “choosing “ not to talk they Can’t talk during these episodes.

Definitely would suggest a re-assessment. Selective Mutism has very distinct patterns and behavior does not coincide much, especially if you are calling it "situational" . Even tho, she is selecting (selective) to not talk (mutism), key markers are absent, which most likely means she is receiving attention and rewarding actions for applying this strategy which perpetuates the voluntary behavior.

My son is autistic too and he can go up to a week of not talking. Then there is other days we start hearing a lot of speech come out. He is about to be 3 and in the works of getting his aac device. ❤️
