@hustlingtortoise: You keep telling yourself you’ll rest once things slow down. But the work never really slows, so you keep pushing, skipping lunch, cancelling the gym, powering through the headache. Here’s the hard truth most people learn too late: the job would fill your seat within a week if you left. All those hours you’re sacrificing your health for won’t be remembered by anyone but you. But the version of you that shows up for your own life? Nobody can replace that one. Your health, your energy, your time with the people who matter - that’s the seat that actually stays empty when you’re gone. You don’t have to burn yourself down to prove you’re committed. Choosing to rest, eat, move, and look after yourself isn’t slacking. It’s the smartest thing you can do. Send this to someone who’s been running themselves into the ground for a job that would replace them tomorrow. Save it for the next time you’re about to skip lunch for a deadline. And follow for more reminders that your wellbeing comes before your work. 🐢 {feeling replaceable at work, burnout, work-life balance, setting boundaries at work, prioritising your health, workplace wellbeing, stop overworking, protecting your peace at work}#Lemon8

This is so true but it took me suffering a breakdown and burnout to realise it. I prioritised work for a long time to the detriment of my health and my family. No one praises you for it. It becomes the level they expect you to work at. They pile more and more onto you because you get known as the one who gets things done. This isn’t praise, this is being taken advantage of. Now after a bout of long term sick leave I am in a much better place mentally. I give work the amount of time and effort that it deserves. I’m only there to earn money so I can live my real life. I now only work my hours, take all my breaks, don’t check emails or messages outside of work times and don’t stress about anything work related. Life is more balanced now and I’m much happier.

This is your sign to get a second opinion. ❤️ Debi’s Stage 4 melanoma came back with a vengeance. Immunotherapy had stopped working, and her doctors offered chemotherapy as a last resort, telling her it might give her just a couple more months. When we sat down to interview Debi, she told us something that gave me chills. Before leaving the hospital that day, a nurse she had never met walked into her room and suggested she get a second opinion at a hospital two hours away. Debi never saw that nurse again. But something told her to listen. A week later at Siteman Cancer Center, Dr. George Ansstas and Dr. David Chen identified an opportunity based on her melanoma’s NRAS mutation. They treated her with an experimental combination of two existing FDA-approved therapies: T-VEC and binimetinib. Within ONE MONTH, her tumors began shrinking. Today, Debi has had NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE for 2 YEARS. This is why second opinions and genomic sequencing matter so much. ❤️ SHARE this with someone who needs hope. It could change someone’s life. 🔬 Do you know of an emerging cancer therapy that needs more awareness? Click the link in our bio to share your story with us. We want to help more patients learn about promising treatment options they may not know exist. Research: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/42809340/ This is one patient’s experience, not a guarantee of results. The treatment combination is investigational and is not FDA-approved as a combination. #thesmilofoundation #cancerjourney #melanomaawarenes #cancersurvivor #stage4cancer
