On a third edit I finally realised I’m always using “slightly”. Why everything got to be slight?? 😔

Sarah J Maas drives me crazy with these. Always does a long list followed by the words “and the like”.

I noticed by chapter 3 that I had a lot of repeating phrases or words and it started driving me insane.

I do this all the time. English isn’t my first language, and I think it’s an easy way to describe and act right now…. However, I’m aware of it 😞🫠 I hope I can find better rephrasing when I finish my story … ( my phase is : he did that/she says that! ) I also have trouble describing technical things to explain how something works without sounding like a manual haha 😅 any advice? Ex: if you work in a power plant you have to describe the work place and the task the character is doing how I explain without making it boring!!! 😴 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠

Mine is “I see that…” before the action or the main character is describing. I need to save it for when the most important action is them noticing the thing, which is almost never!

During my second draft phase, the number of times I had to delete “however,” “yet,” and “nonetheless” made me want to go back in time and punch myself while I was writing my first draft. 😂

Its identifying a flow crutch, huh? (the phrases we use repeatedly to maintain the momentum in the creative phase, without going back and inividualising them).

i love the Licanius trilogy, but "[character] inclined his head" occurs about 9356 times over the three books. 😂
