while it's possibly not as large there is private healthcare in the UK this is available in several different ways, either insurance or ad-hoc payments. emergency healthcare is all NHS as are ambulances so there is no charge for them. but part of the problems we are facing in improving waiting lists is that there are very few just private consultants, so going private or paying to put people through private actually uses the same doctors and changes the price. we are also stuck with most of the NHS being operated by private trusts and having around 13% of the costs being taken out as profit.

I don’t understand the arguement about wait times. I’ve been to two different specialist doctors this year. It was a 3 month wait to get in to either.
