Belle Isle was a fishing village for Native Americans, a prisoner of war camp during the Civil War, after the war, it was used as a hydroelectric powerplant. The building at the end that you went inside is what remains of the powerplant. Now, it is a park where people ride bikes, walk, and sunbathe on the rocks in the river

You should walk around Hollywood Cemetary in Oregon Hill!! It's absolutely beautiful, and holds the graves of two presidents. The surrounding neighborhood has tons of charm too 🥰

Richmond is known as the river city. Spring and summer the river is always packed with people laying on rocks and swimming in the James. It has always been a great place to meet strangers and party with friends.
