@heyadamdesign: I’ve been travelling around a lot recently and I keep noticing just how many AI generated logos are actually out there now. I mean on shop fronts, restaurant menus, vans, signs, packaging. Proper businesses using them in the real world. And once you recognise the look, you start seeing them everywhere 😬 And I get why it’s happening. The whole appeal is speed, convenience and cost. Why pay someone to spend days thinking about something when you can type a few words into a machine and get 50 options back in 30 seconds? But that’s kind of the problem. Making the thing was never really the hard bit. The hard bit is knowing what the thing should actually be. What matters, what doesn’t, what to leave out, what makes the business different, what people might actually remember, whether it still works tiny, huge, in one colour, on a shop front, years down the line. AI skips straight to something that looks the resemblance of finished. And I think we’re 💯 starting to see what happens when loads of businesses do that at the same time. Different places, different industries, but somehow the same ideas, the same visual tricks and the same generic crap keeps coming back around. There’s actually research showing generative AI can make creative output more homogeneous, which is probably one of the least surprising things I’ve ever read. AI hasn’t suddenly made everyone a designer. It’s just made it incredibly easy to skip the design bit altogether.
