¿Y si el tratamiento de la depresión está funcionando… pero el TDAH no te deja terminar de salir de ella? En algunas personas AuDHD, durante una depresión la procrastinación, la dispersión, la dificultad para iniciar tareas y la pérdida de estructura pueden convertirse en parte del problema: cuanto menos haces, peor te sientes; y cuanto peor te sientes, más difícil resulta hacer. Por eso, cuando la depresión mejora solo parcialmente, puede ser importante preguntarnos qué papel está teniendo el TDAH en mantener ese círculo. En algunos pacientes, tratar también el TDAH cambia el equilibrio: disminuye la dispersión y recuperan estructura, rutinas, orden y capacidad para ejecutar. Yo lo conceptualizo clínicamente como “polarizar hacia el polo autista”: no significa aumentar el autismo, sino favorecer características que ya estaban ahí y que, en ese momento, pueden resultar funcionalmente útiles. Este concepto de “polarización” es una hipótesis/modelo clínico, no un mecanismo demostrado científicamente.
