A hollow copper peacock supplied the water. Hidden behind two doors were two mechanical servants. One presented cleansing material. The other brought a towel. When the attendant activated the peacock, water rose until it triggered a siphon in the curved neck. Then water automatically poured from the bird's beak onto the user's hands. The used water did something even more remarkable. It flowed into a hidden chamber and raised a float. That float operated the first mechanical servant. As more water collected, a second float rose and activated the towel-carrying servant. There were no electronics. The “sensors” were simply floats responding to the rising water level. Water controlled the timing of the entire sequence.
