When I found out my premature baby had his umbilical cord clamped immediately in a US hospital (I missed the birth) I was very concerned. In contrast, China recommends delayed cord clamping until after cord pulsation stops (5-10 mins, cord is white and all the placental blood is now in the baby)—but US hospitals still don’t wait until the cord is completely finished pulsing.
