My sisters and I read a lot and I remember distinctly borrowing a book from the library the “scary stories you tell in the dark” and reading those we would then believe that those stories and the monsters were true. so really our playing was figuring out how to defeat the monsters, establishing defense formations, locating where the monsters would live (most of them were in the ditch in my mom‘s backyard) and then nine chances out of 10 it was my older sister trying to sacrifice me to said monsters
