I was also very confused at why the author kept linking it to ‘trans ideology’

we can't win. claiming benefits is wrong but making an income around our illness is wrong, we aren't reliable so can't be hired but we should be grateful because we get to stay in bed all day..

They forget we just had a pandemic that caused a lot of chronic illnesses to surge. I developed POTS and IIH which one cause is a really bad virus.

also why is the article only about young women? yes women are getting diagnosed more now for ADHD, Autism and other similar conditions because NEWS ALERT there is more education about how these present for women and women (and more young people in general) are now advocating for themselves in appointments…..so i dont get how that’s a bad thing. that article acc pissed me off omds

completely agree with you! also, extra context, some immune genes are on the x chromosome and so having two x chromosomes (despite the body mostly inactivating one in each cell) kind of predisposes you to more immune reactivity, which is another reason for the higher rates of autoimmune disease in women

I LOVED working. I was an amazing it tech and well liked. I wish I could go back. I had no idea that when I went to bed that night, I'd have a seizure and then more and more until I was described as having intractable epilepsy

Someone also made a great point about how we just went through a mass disabling event (covid), why are we so shocked more people are getting diagnosed right now?

Seeing other people talking an the same bowel disease I have made a huge difference in my understanding of it (as we always get NOTHING) but also made me so much more confident in knowing i wasn’t alone! Should never be knocked down

Right before my tilt table test the dr performing it was explaining to the nurse how “you will notice a pattern with the girls who think they have POTs” and how “one girl actually cried because she was so upset the test was negative” my door was wide open, you best believe I schooled the dr right infront of the nurses. And suddenly she was just as upset and embarrassed as she made me feel. My mom was in the room and she was appalled

and here's me having been shamed for using my disability aids for the entirety of my life, and only just finding the courage to actually use them in public again... now I'm being told I'm just doing it to be cool 🤦‍♀️... I'm struggling to understand when it's ever been called to be disabled.

Trust me I did not want to spend £5000 on a wheelchair for the sake of it, it’s not cool or fun to disabled or chronically ill it’s miserable and has robbed my life!

Every two years or so there's another "article" like this. It's uneducated ableist opinion, not journalism. Ugh.
