@wellbalancedwithbrooke: You start taking better care of yourself and suddenly you’re hit with the “You’re obsessed” “Life a little” “You’re boring” “You’ve changed” Exactly. That was the point. It feels weird when people around you start reacting to your changes. But… you wanted more energy, to feel stronger, to start giving a f*ck about your health. You wanted habits you could sustain. You were tired of starting over. Don’t let someone else’s discomfort make you question a healthy choice you made for YOU. You don’t need to apologize because the version of you you’re becoming looks different from the version they got comfortable with. Everyone isn’t going to clap. Try to also understand that when people make negative comments about positive changes you’re making, it’s often a reflection of how they feel about themselves. Maybe they want to change but don’t know how. I always tell my clients “does this person making these comments have their sh*t together? Are they the picture of health?” … you know what the answer always is? It’s NO Everyone won’t celebrate your lifestyle changes. Keep going. Don’t let it stop you from changing & doing what’s best for you ❤️🦋🤘
I got hurt and sick in rapid succession several years ago and lost around 50lbs. I only regained around half of that. Even after getting organs stapled and removed and even after almost dying thrice, the lost weight was all people fixated on. I wasn’t even big before. In my worst state, my weight was under 90lbs. Once I started recovering, I had to make big changes in my lifestyle (this also coincided with an autoimmune disorder waking up). Less food than even before, less reckless eating, more activity overall. The number of raise eyebrows and scoffs I got from my blood relatives was eye-opening. What’s weird is that my family isn’t even especially unhealthy. We’ve always been the petite people, with me as the token slightly chubby one (in comparison). Now I’m the smallest (and frailest) and now I’m “rubbing it in”
