A West Virginia father is facing multiple charges after authorities say he crashed an SUV into a parked construction vehicle, resulting in the d3aths of his two sons. James Edward Neal Jr., 34, has been charged with two counts of child neglect resulting in d3ath in connection with the d3aths of 7-year-old James Edward Neal III and 13-year-old Zayden Andrew Hurley. He also faces DUI-related charges and child neglect charges involving the safety of another child. Neal is being held at the Central Regional Jail on $1 million bond. According to authorities, Neal was driving the SUV on Aug. 22 with his two sons and a 14-year-old friend of the boys. They were reportedly returning from a football event when Neal suddenly crashed into a parked front-end loader operated by the West Virginia Department of Highways. State police, firefighters and medics responded and found James and Zayden d3ad at the scene. The 14-year-old was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and reportedly underwent multiple surgeries after suffering severe internal injuries. Investigators said Neal had a history of meth use. Although field sobriety tests were not performed because of the emotionally charged scene and Neal showing signs of head trauma, authorities said he appeared disoriented, was sweating and experiencing body tremors. Neal reportedly admitted that he had relapsed after nearly five years of sobriety. He allegedly told investigators he had been using meth and marijuana and claimed he fell asleep behind the wheel. After Neal learned that both of his sons had been K!lled, authorities say he made jokes with an acquaintance about cuts on his hands. Neal was taken to a hospital, where his blood was drawn. He allegedly tested positive for meth and THC before being arrested and booked into jail. A joint obituary described James and Zayden as kids with “larger than life” personalities who shared a passion for football and dreamed of becoming NFL players. They were remembered as kind, loving and funny children. The case now leaves one family grieving two young lives while another child continues recovering from the devastating crash. How should someone responsible for a tragedy like this be held accountable? #TrueCrime #CrimeNews #WestVirginia #BreakingNews #TrueCrimeTok
